How did Yass get it's name ?

Well way back when Hamilton Hume and William Hovell were outside of Yass  they asked an Aboriginal helper they had travelling with them to climb a tree. They asked him " do you see any plains " and He answered " yass boss " and so Yass was the name chosen for the Town we know today.
